This week I found myself at a pumpkin farm and thought I’d squeeze in a little outfit post with the few photos I have. It’s no secret how much I adore Autumn, and this outfit to me, reflects the beauty of Autumn clothing. Sadly, most of these pieces I’ve had for quite a while, but I’m sure you could find similar on the high street.
Although probably considered ‘basic’ by many, burgundy (ox blood, maroon, what ever you want to call it) is my autumn / winter staple. I find that it goes beautifully with almost any skin tone and complexion and therefore features heavily in my A/W wardrobe. I purchased my hat around two years ago from a little outdoors / camping style shop whilst staying in Oxford visiting one of my friends who was studying there at the time. I underestimated the harsh February wind and my ears were beyond frozen, hence the purchase was a necessity. The brand is Peter Storm, it was relatively inexpensive and I always turn to it around the cooler months.
Keeping in line with the burgundy theme, I decided that instead of wearing jeans (which I’m not the biggest fan of) I would throw on a pinafore dress. The one shown here is from Topshop and was purchased last year. It is rather short so I paired with it a thick pair of black tights, perfect for keeping the chillier wind at bay. In an attempt to compliment the colour theme, I used the NYX cosmetics liquid lipstick in ‘Copenhagen’ along with the Rimmel London ’60 Second super shine’ nail polish in ‘321: It’s the cherry on top’ both of which are staples this time of year. I should mention that both are very affordable and great quality! As if that wasn’t enough burgundy, my bag is from Modalu, and is a lovely felt material, I promise that’s all of it (the burgundy at least…)
Underneath the pinafore dress I have one of my favourite jumpers from Cath Kidston, it has a beautiful embroidery around the top forming a faux collar and is in a delightful jade green colour. I feel that it breaks up the oxblood overload, yet compliments the colour reasonably well. As it was quite cold, I paired the outfit with a camel coat, the one shown is from Maje. Camel is such a classic colour for any time of year, whether its in the style of a trench coat or cape. Neutral colours are my favourite and go with everything. I always feel that it’s best to have a coat in such a colour as it doesn’t distract from the overall look. Lastly, for shoes I went with my trusty black leather chelsea boots, I’ve had these for four years now and never let me down apart from needing a re-healing once. I picked them up from Brick Lane market although, pretty much all shoe retailers sell some equivalent.
