Hello there.
Today marks day three in my Lent Bible study challenge. I apologise for the lateness of this post, I was out for dinner and had made my notes but wasn’t near a laptop to upload. Regardless, here’s the observations from today.
Scripture: ”When God’s people are in need, be ready to help them. Always be eager to practice hospitality.” -Romans 12:13
Observation: In life we always appear to be busy; too busy to see our friend, too busy to give a phone call to a far away family member, too busy to help someone. However busy life is, it is important to create the time. Acts of hospitality do not need to be grande in gesture, a simple act of kindness count just the same. In life, to practise the golden rule is to be ready and serve others the way I would like to be treated. Acts of kindness and hospitality also do not need to apply just to people we know, as shown in the parable of the sheep and the goats, what ever we do for the least of others we do for the Lord and Jesus.
Application: I need to remember that hospitality does not always needs to be grande gestures, instead I can try and focus on one task a day that is kind and hospitable towards others, doing so help’s me share love and happiness, all of which can help to make a person’s day and also to create a kinder and more compassionate world.
Kneeling in Prayer: Lord, help me to serve others in your name, in doing so I hope that the world can become a kinder and more loving place. Help us to remember that being hospitable does not need to just apply to our close network of family and friends, help us to be loving to all, regardless of faith, sex, race and so forth. Allow us to help others and actively complete your commandments of treating others the way we ourselves wish to be treated. In your name, amen.
With love, Lottie.
