Hello there.
It would appear that I am gaining some daily silent followers during this lent challenge. I hope that you are all enjoying my daily notes whereby I am trying to build my relationship with God. If you are a silent reader, please say hello every now and again; tell me something about you, your faith or anything for that matter. Part of the beauty of the internet is the ability to interact with people from all over, I love engaging with you all, please don’t be afraid to say hello! Ramblings aside, here’s my study for the day.
Scripture: ”But be like the Lord Jesus Christ, so that when people see what you do, they will see Christ. Don’t think about how to satisfy the desires of your sinful self.” Romans 13:14
Observation: There are times in life when we are incredibly selfish, myself included. Sometimes we need to take a step back in order to put Jesus and others before ourselves. We should complete acts of kindness and act in such a way Jesus would; following commandments and treating others the way we would like to be treated.
Application: I am not perfect and I can be selfish, however this is not a good trait to have. Although it is natural to want to meet certain desires in life e.g. meet a goal or have a new item, it is important to not allow such desires to overwhelm us and our perspective. Instead of being self seeking, we should aim to complete kind acts with a pure and good intention. If we all completed a couple of random acts of kindness each day, the world could be such a happier place. In doing good acts, the image of Christ will radiate. I need to remember to actively practise and fulfil this element of my faith, in order to serve the Lord and Christ.
Kneeling in Prayer: Lord, help me to put you and others before myself. Help me to see the ‘bigger picture’ and to show qualities and characteristics such as compassion, kindness and love more openly to all I meet. Help me to not be selfish and self seeking, there is more to life than desires so help us to control and limit such negative wants, particularly if it is at the expense of others. In your name I pray, amen.
With love, Lottie.
